West Yorkshire Schools Competition

We launched the Bullying Stops Here poster competition in 2006 to help children identify and understand bullying behaviour. The curriculum-based intiative, supported by the NSPCC, the Anti-Bullying Alliance and ChildLine, was open to hundreds of schools across West Yorkshire. Pupils from Year 6 classes were invited to come up with a colourful and imaginative design for an anti-bullying poster.

John Stead, regional co-ordinator for the Anti-Bullying Alliance, education advisor for the NSPCC and competition judge told us: "When children use art and design to express themselves the result is often very powerful - and the entries to this competition were no exception. With bullying such a major concern for children and young people today, it’s vital that we continue to do our utmost to keep the issue in the public eye and work towards creating a society where bullying is seen as unacceptable behaviour."

'Our home is a period building so we had to choose our windows carefully to ensure historical integrity was maintained. Kingfisher gave us invaluable guidance and advice on the most appropriate style - we couldn't be happier with the results.'
