The Project

Kingfisher Windows worked on this project at Sim Chem House in Cheadle Hulme to convert this former office block built in the 1960s into an accommodation block with 184 one and two-bed apartments aimed at young homeowners. The project was completed smooth and trouble-free and was completed in March 2019. We fit more than 1,000 of our Profile 22 Optima Chamfered windows to give market-leading benefits to the homeowners. Speaking on the completion of the project, David Holmes, of the project's main contractor headoffice3 said: "The building looks fantastic, we are delighted with the results."

The Windows Used

For the Fabrick apartment project in Cheadle, we installed 1050 uPVC foil wrapped windows in an Anthracite 7016 textured foil on the exterior and white on the interior. We use Profile 22's  Optima range to manufacture our windows, and the chamfered profile within the windows was ideal for this project. These windows needed to offer excellent soundproofing to keep out the noise from the busy town centre location, something these windows offer. We use the Optima range in homeowner and commercial contracts because of the market-leading intelligent design that will offer an impressive performance and good looks in any home.

Thermally Efficient

The homeowners in this new apartment block will enjoy leading levels of thermal efficiency and security thanks to these new windows. The windows boast a U-value of 1.2 W/m2K as standard, which can be further improved through triple glazing or secondary glazing to levels as low as 0.8 W/m2K and achieves a BS7412 weather performance. The soft coat low emissivity glass, warm edge spacer and argon gas will help to keep these apartments warmer. The windows will act as a barrier to heat, trapping it inside. This will keep the home naturally warmer year-round, even in the coldest of winters, reducing the need for central heating. In the long-term, not only will this save the homeowner money on energy bills, but reduce the carbon footprint of their home.
