The £5.5 million Palliative Care Centre in Goscote is a landmark development and the first dedicated facility of its kind in Walsall, designed to provide compassionate, specialist care for people living with cancer and other life-limiting conditions. The centre focuses not only on delivering exceptional medical, nursing and therapeutic support, but also on creating a calm, welcoming environment for patients, their families and carers during challenging times.
Kingfisher Windows was selected to play a key role in the project, supplying and installing advanced hybrid aluminium and timber composite windows along with a high-performance curtain walling system. The aluminium exterior gives the building a sleek, contemporary appearance while offering outstanding strength, durability and security, helping ensure a safe environment for patients. Internally, the timber element adds warmth and comfort, contributing to a more homely and soothing atmosphere.
To support accessibility, Kingfisher also provided automatic entrance doors, ensuring effortless access for patients, staff and visitors, including those with limited mobility. In addition, thermally broken aluminium French doors were installed along one of the exterior walls, opening onto a beautifully designed seating and decking area. This outdoor space allows patients and their loved ones to relax, enjoy natural light and benefit from fresh air, further enhancing wellbeing.
Overall, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design and high-quality glazing solutions can help create a modern, secure and uplifting healthcare environment.
